He will oversee all visual output across the agency’s clients as well as the DLKW Lowe brand, which is to rebrand as MullenLowe London following the merger of the Interpublic agencies Lowe and Partners and Mullen earlier this year.
Kakazu will be one of the agency’s key creative directors and will report into Dave Henderson, the chief creative officer.
He was most recently associate creative director at Ogilvy & Mather London, where he created award-winning work for clients including Dove, Coca-Cola, Philips and Amnesty International.
He was previously head of art at Ogilvy & Mather Brazi, where he led traditional and digital creative teams from both the São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro offices.
During his three years in Brazil he successfully pitched for and won Burger King, Coca-Cola US Hispanic, Coca-Cola’s Kuat Guaraná and Jac Motors. He also produced award-winning work including the Burger King Whopper Face.
Kakazu has also worked at BBH and Publicis in Brazil.
DLKW Lowe’s chief creative officer, Dave Henderson, said: “Denis is an enormous talent. He has incredible experience building strong, visual, craft-driven agency cultures, particularly at Ogilvy & Mather Brazil.

Kakazu’s appointment follows a flurry of recent appointments at the creative agency. Jamie Elliott was promoted to chief executive, Dave Henderson to chief creative officer and Anna Vogt joined from BBH as head of planning.
